We moved in to a loft out here a little over 2 months ago, though no stranger to Deep Ellum over the years. Every time we take a walk to Renos
we talk about how upsetting it is that Deep Ellum has gone downhill so fast. But things are looking up!
They have been working on the Green Line Dart Rail Deep Ellum station right across the street from our place which should be up and running by September of this year. I'm really hoping that this brings more people back to the neighborhood. And along with this is The Traveling Man (as well as new murals since the Good-Latimer tunnel is long gone)!

"Hints of The Traveling Man’s influence can still be found in the subject matter of restless artists, in the manifestation of visitors to Deep Ellum for business owners, and even in the designation of a new DART rail station for the community. Whether it’s the classic artist or the artful businessman, travel is an essential component of success - and travel is the common thread that ties Deep Ellum’s history to its future. Soon this gentle, wise man will stand tall, raising with him the dreams and aspirations of those who believe in him."
You can read the whole story here . And to add to my happiness, I just read today that Trees will be re-opened by hopefully August! You can read about that
here.
